Belfast Cathedral (known locally as St Anne’s Cathedral) has been successful in securing Resilience Heritage funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. This programme of funding will allow St Anne’s Cathedral to build upon our capacity and achieve strategic change to improve the management of heritage, acquisition of new skills and knowledge- with a central aim to put the organisation in a better position for the future.
St Anne’s Cathedral has stood for over 100 years as a place of Christian worship in the heart of the City of Belfast. This wonderful building offers the visitor, whether the pilgrim or the regular attendee at daily and Sunday services, a sacred shared space to worship or reflect and an opportunity to enjoy the history and visual art in the Cathedral, for example, the mosaics, the carved stonework, the many fine stained glass windows, the carefully sourced marble tiles on the floor and walls and the delicate wood carving as well as the lovely needlework in both cushions and kneelers.
Over the past few years, St Anne’s Cathedral has also gained a growing reputation as a major tourist attraction and arts venue within the city of Belfast – hosting events including Culture Night, Frock Around the Clock Vintage Fairs, Concerts by Belfast Philharmonic and the Ulster Orchestra and Gala dinners and conferences for Blue Chip companies looking for a unique venue. In order to capitalise on the potential of this area of our business, the Board of St Anne’s Cathedral wish to appoint an Events and Marketing Manager.
The successful applicant will;
- Manage the day to day elements of the Cathedral’s strategic growth plan in areas of business development and events.
- Manage the delivery and promotion of all Cathedral events, income generation activities and awareness‐raising for St Anne’s Cathedral.
- Increase the Cathedral’s media profile locally and internationally by developing and managing an effective marketing and communications strategy in conjunction with the Press Officer.
- Awareness of the fact that St Anne’s Cathedral is a “working Cathedral” with a cycle of daily worship.
