St Anne’s Cathedral is currently recruiting for a Sexton Supervisor to assist in the efficient and effective delivery of the daily operations of the Cathedral. The new post of Sexton-Supervisor has been introduced to lead the existing team of full-time and casual sextons in meeting an expanding workload, arising especially through the increasing popularity of St Anne’s Cathedral as a tourist venue and a venue for concerts and special events, many of which take place in the evenings. The post holder will spend a significant part of their working week coordinating the sexton team and helping to ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the site, and the smooth running of events, some of which run on a tight schedule to fit in with Cathedral services, while providing a professional standard of welcome and assistance to all our visitors.
In this varied role, the Cathedral Sexton-Supervisor will:
- Supervise and direct a small team of permanent and casual sextons
- Be responsible for taking care of the Cathedral buildings, furnishings, and grounds.
- Liaise with other Cathedral personnel and users to ensure the proper functioning of the Cathedral as a place of worship, as well as in the many other roles and activities that it provides.
