Internationally renowned singer Brian Kennedy, who first sang in St Anne’s Cathedral with the Clonard Choir when he was 14, returns on December 16 with a special seasonal concert.

Brian said he always had a love / hate relationship with Christmas but his recent experience of cancer had made him reconsider many things, including how he could re-introduce himself to Christmas in the most positive way he knew, namely through music.

Brian is currently recording his first ever collection of his most beloved Christmas songs. It has been a busy year for the man who grew up on Belfast’s Falls Road. After a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival he recently released the triple ‘Live at Vicar Street, Dublin’ double CD & bonus DVD before heading to China for a 10 date tour with Secret Garden where they had a huge hit with Brian singing ‘You Raise Me Up’.

Speaking of his Christmas collection, Brian said: “Having a journey with cancer last year really made me look at the world in a different way, and as I returned to full health I really wanted to re-introduce myself to Christmas in the most positive way I could think of and that is through music.

“I’m acutely aware that for a lot of people the Yuletide is a time of year that can often be so difficult and lonely and dreaded for all kinds of reasons. I decided the thing that seems to win me over every year is the soundtrack of incredible timeless songs that come around and put a smile on so many faces around the world whatever the circumstances.

“I’m so proud of the outcome and now I want to perform them at a series of special concerts in some of the most beautiful buildings around the country.”

Brian and long-time producer Billy Farrell have come up with brand new arrangements on some very old and some very new classic Christmas songs.

The Album ‘CHRISTMASSY’ will be available at the concerts and he said he is proud to make a return to St Anne’s Cathedral where he first sang as a 14-year-old in Clonard Choir.

Tickets at £25 / £23 concessions (plus booking fee) are available online.
