John Leckey, who recently retired as Senior Coroner for Northern Ireland after a distinguished and highly respected career, was the third speaker in our 2017 Autumn Talks series on November 1.

John has been investigating sudden, unnatural, or unexplained deaths since 1984 when he was appointed deputy coroner for Greater Belfast.

One of the less known duties of a coroner is to investigate treasure trove.

John was awarded the Queen’s University Graduate of the Year for having ‘worked tirelessly on behalf of others through his working life.’

The Autumn Talks series concludes on Wednesday December 6 when Paul Gilmore, who is based at Union Theological College, Belfast, will speak on the last heresy trial in Ireland.

The talk will be held in the Cathedral Hall. Refreshments from 12.15pm. Suggested donation £5.
