A service remembering the faithful departed was held in St Anne’s Cathedral on Thursday November 2.

The view from the triforium from where the choir sang.

This was an opportunity to remember those who had a connection to the Cathedral who had died during the past year, and others who members of the congregation wanted to recall.

During the service an Act of Commemoration was held, in which the names were read out and a time of silence observed.

Candles were lit to symbolise each name and a candle tree formed a focal point for the congregation who were seated in the choir stalls.

The choir, pictured above with Master of the Choristers David Stevens, sang from the triforium (or gallery), which added a really moving quality to the setting,  Missa pro defunctis  (by Tomas Luis De Victoria).
