Belfast Cathedral Organ Scholar Jack Wilson will give a free recital this Sunday, April 15, at 3pm.

Jack will play Sonata No. 1 by French organist Alexandre Guilmant.

Jack, who hails from Eglantine in Co Londonderry, and is a former pupil of Limavady Grammar School, is in his second year reading Music at Queen’s University in Belfast.

He was appointed Organ Scholar by Organist and Master of the Choristers David Stevens in September 2016.  His period as Organ Scholar runs concurrent with his three year course at Queen’s.

This recital is part of an ongoing series organised by the Cathedral’s Music Department. The next will take place on May 20 when Assistant Organist Dr Ed Jones plays Triptico del Buen Pastor by J Guridi while David Stevens will treat us to C Franck’s Grande Piece Symphonique on June 17.

As a special treat on July 15, all three organists will space a programme of selected audience requests. Please email your favourite tune to david@belfastcathedral.org.

Everyone is welcome to come along this Sunday and hear Jack. The recital will be followed by Choral Evensong at 3.30pm at which the Cathedral’s new Canon, Stephen Fielding, will be installed.
