William Shaw Kerr

Of Broomfield House, Tinahely, County Wicklow. Educated at T.C.D. B.A. B.D. 1897. Former Rector of Seapatrick (Banbridge) 1915 - 1932 and Archdeacon of Dromore. He described his incumbency of Seapatrick as ‘seventeen of the happiest years in my life’. Author of 'The Independence of the Celtic Church in Ireland'. Published in 1931. Within its 164 pages, the author outlines the position of our Church from early times, indicating his scholarship and skill as a researcher. Later Bishop of Down and Dromore 1944 - 1955. He married Amy Smith of London.
