EASTERN APSE AND AMBULATORY

 Facts: Consecrated in 1959

The Ambulatory runs from the North Quire Aisle, behind the Altar and round to the South Quire Aisle. According to original plans, there was to have been an Eastern Chapel, probably a Lady Chapel. This, however, was never constructed.

The Ambulatory contains many early photographs and paintings of the old parish Church as well as photographs of the choir.

It is here, also, where various books of remembrance of the Cathedral are kept – such as Remember our Child, Royal Air Force Book of Remembrance as well as plaques commemorating incidents which affected local people, such as The Kegworth Air disaster.
