Join us at Belfast Cathedral on Saturday 1st February. There will be a Service of Holy Communion at 1pm in the Chapel of Unity to celebrate St Brigid’s Day, celebrated by Rev Ronnie Lawrenson.
St Brigid’s Day is a traditional festival which marks the beginning of Spring. Nowadays, St Brigid is celebrated in numerous ways, one is with a perpetual flame at her shrine in Kildare! Although one of the most recognisable traditions of Saint Brigid’s feast is the “Brigid’s cross”. These were and still are traditionally made from either reeds or straw.
