Advent Carol Service, Sunday 28 November

Belfast Cathedral - Advent Carol Service, Sunday 28 November

In place of the usual 3.30pm service, the Advent Carol Service takes place at 6.00pm on Advent Sunday, 28 November. Doors will open at 5.30pm and we ask the congregation to be seated by 5.50pm. Seating will be first come, first served, until we reach capacity.

The service will begin with the cathedral in near darkness. Due to ongoing restrictions there will be no procession of choir and clergy during the service. However, candles will be lit during the service from the West End to the East, to symbolize the coming of Christ, the Light of the World. This will be done during the singing of each of the Magnificat Antiphons.

Some of the music to be sung features on Belfast Cathedral Choir's new CD 'A Belfast Christmas'. The Order of Service can be downloaded and viewed below.

Before and after the service Associate Organist Tristan Russcher, will play movements I, II, IV & V of Cinq Méditations sur l’Apocalypse by French organist Jean Langlais.

Please note that the seating has been replaced in the Nave. However, it will be by alternate rows, and we ask that 2 vacant chairs (1m) be kept between groups.
