Cameron Mack Appointed as Cathedral Curate

We are very pleased to announce that the Reverend Cameron Mack has been appointed to be the new Curate at St Anne’s Cathedral Belfast, subject to achieving his MTh in June. Cameron has been the part time Deacon Intern at Belfast Cathedral since September 2023, during his final year of training at the Church of Ireland Theological Institute. Over the past nine months, Cameron’s time has been split between assisting at the Cathedral and writing his final year dissertation.

In this new position Cameron will become a fulltime member of the cathedral staff working closely in support of the Dean in all aspects of the cathedral’s ministry. Cameron will have particular responsibility for pastoral care to the cathedral parishioners, and with members of the cathedral choir. He will also work closely with the university chaplains in outreach to the many students, both local and from other countries, who are now live in the accommodation built close to the cathedral.  Cameron is a gifted singer and is currently a member of the Church of Ireland’s Liturgical Advisory Committee.

Announcing the appointment of Cameron as Cathedral Curate, the Dean said “I am thrilled that Cameron will be joining us as a core member of the cathedral’s ministry team, along with his wife Megan. Cameron is an able preacher, and a deep thinker, which he adds to a warm personality and a pastoral sensitivity. I look forward to working closely with Cameron over the coming years as we continue to shape the life and witness of Belfast Cathedral at the heart of this city and community.”

The Dean added “I also want to thank the Reverends Ron and Janice Elsdon, and more recently  Canon Raymond Fox, who have been enormously generous in giving their time, hard work and friendship over the past several years. They have ensured that the cathedral has remained a place of vibrant and caring ministry to all who come through the cathedral’s doors, and for all who count the cathedral their own spiritual home”

Cameron’s ordination as a priest in the Diocese of Connor by Bishop George Davison will take place during the month of June.
