CHRISTMAS SERVICES AT BELFAST CATHEDRAL 2023

CHRISTMAS EVE - Sunday 24th December

8.00PM FESTIVAL OF NINE LESSONS AND CAROLS

A service of traditional readings with congregational carols and music by Nicholas Moor, Philip Stopford, Vaughan Williams, Jack Wilson and Mack Wilberg. All welcome. Come early to ensure a seat. Collection to the Dean of Belfast's 2023 Black Santa Appeal.

11.00PM FIRST COMMUNION OF CHRISTMAS.

Preacher: Bishop David McClay. Celebrant: Bishop George Davison. Service led by the clergy and readers of the Cathedral.

The cathedral choir, under the direction of Jack Wilson, with Stephen Hamill, organist, will feature Vierne’s triumphant Messe Solonnelle, anthems by Phillip Ledger and Jack Wilson and Dieu Parmi Nous (God amongst us) by Messiaen.

CHRISTMAS DAY - Monday 25th December

11.00AM FESTIVAL EUCHARIST

The service will be led by the Dean, assisted by the cathedral clergy and readers.

Preacher; Rev Cameron Mack. Celebrant: Bishop Trevor William.

Festival music with the cathedral choir, led by Jack Wilson, with Stephen Hamill, organist, will be Shepard’s Wiltshire Service, with Widor’s most famous Toccata (from Symphony V) concluding our celebrations.

On Sunday 31st December, New Year's Eve and the First Sunday after Christmas, Cathedral Eucharist will be led by the Cathedral Clergy and readers. The Preacher is the Dean, with Rev Dr Ron Elsdon as celebrant. With the choir taking a well deserved rest after all their Christmas services, music for the service be well known congregational Christmas Carols led by our Master of Music, Jack Wilson.

There is no 3.30pm service on 31st December.
