Day of Reflection marked in Belfast Cathedral

The annual service for the Day of Reflection took place in Belfast Cathedral on Saturday. This service is held every year on the 21st June, the longest day of the year. We were pleased to welcome church and political leaders to the cathedral as we spent time acknowledging the deep hurt and pain caused by the conflict in and about Northern Ireland, reflecting on our own attitudes, on what more we might have done or might still do, and making a personal commitment that such loss should never be allowed to happen again.
The service was led by members of the Forum for Victims and Survivors Mary Moreland and Paul Crawford and by Fr Martin Magill and Rev Dr Ruth Patterson, along with Dean Forde. Neil Martin performed two musical pieces over the midday hour. The words of John Paul Lederach were brought to life in a short play adapted by Rev David Campton, in which a conversation takes place between Truth, Mercy, Justice and Peace.
A recording of the service is available on Corrymeela's YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Smu4LWkfvkc
