Sunday 6th September Cathedral Morning Service
We welcome you to join us once again at 11am for Morning Worship on Sunday 6th September, as live services have resumed at the cathedral.
The service will be led by the Dean's Vicar, Canon Mark Niblock. The Preacher is the Dean of Belfast, the Very Reverend Stephen Forde and the Lector is Mrs Gillian McGaughey, Diocesan Reader.
The Organist is Mr Jack Wilson, with a long-awaited return of the Belfast Cathedral Choir conducted by the Director of Music, Mr Matthew Owens.
Psalm 149 will be sung to a chant by CV Stanford, the Canticle "Jubilate" is from Stanford's "Service in B flat", and the anthem is "Cantique de Jean Racine" by Gabriel Fauré. Voluntaries are "On a theme of Orlando Gibbons (Song 34) The Angels' Song, Op. 105" and "Postlude on an old church melody, Op. 101", both also by Charles Villiers Stanford.
Following the most recent guidance issued by the Northern Ireland Executive, and endorsed by the Church Leaders, all attending are to wear face coverings as they arrive and leave the cathedral, at times when social distancing will be difficult. During the service, while seated at 2 metre distance, members of the congregation are encouraged to wear face coverings.
Please note that seating will be allocated from the front as parishioners arrive. And at the end of the service, after the organ voluntary, the congregation will be guided to leave from the back seats to those at the front. Those who belong to the same household will be able to sit together. However those from different households will be asked to sit separately. At present the cathedral has seating for 100 worshippers.
As we welcome the return of our socially distanced choir, we also look forward to welcoming you this Sunday, whether you are a regular member of the cathedral congregation or a visitor to our city, as we take the opportunity to share together in prayer, scriptures, reflection and cathedral music.
However for those still unable to join us in person, there will be a Live Stream of the service starting at 10.50am. Please click on Facebook "F" icon at the bottom of this webpage, or on the link immediately below for access.
