Sunday 9th August Cathedral Morning Worship
We welcome you to join us at 11am for Morning Worship on Sunday 9th August, as live services have resumed at the cathedral.
Under government and church guidelines, the cathedral has been rearranged to ensure 2 metre social distancing for all who attend. Other changes to encourage our cathedral parishioners and visitors to join us include hand sanitization points, individual service sheets already placed on seats, a minimum of movement once seated, and the option to use the cathedral's contactless card reader to make your Sunday donation.
Following guidance, there will be no congregational hymn singing, but music within the service will be provided by Mr Jack Wilson, the cathedral's Assistant Director of Music, and Susie Hunter as Soloist. The preacher for this Sunday's service will be the Reverend Janice Elsdon, with the service led by the Dean and Mrs Gillian McGaughey.
Please note that seating will be allocated from the front as parishioners arrive. And at the end of the service, after the organ voluntary, the congregation will be guided to leave from the back seats to those at the front. This is an important way to avoid people passing one another, which could give rise to an increased risk of any transmission. Those who belong to the same household will be able to sit together. However those from different households will be asked to sit separately. At present the cathedral has seating for 100 worshippers.
Following Government guidance, all attending are requested to wear a face covering.
Regrettably, we will be unable to serve refreshments at the end of the service, as members of the congregation are encouraged to make their way outside.
Last week's service proved a resounding success, with most of the available seats in the cathedral filled. We look forward to welcoming you this Sunday, whether you are a regular member of the cathedral congregation or a visitor to our city, as we take the opportunity to share together in prayer, scriptures, reflection and cathedral music.
However for those still unable to join us in person, there will be a Live Stream of the service starting at 10.50am. Please click on Facebook "F" icon at the bottom of this webpage, or on the link immediately below for access.

The Service will mark the 75th Anniversary of VJ Day, 15th August 1945.
